Here's Cameron's graduation picture

Here's a little blurb I wrote last year to our bike club's Yahoo Groups mailing list describing it. It made the real triathletes weep tears of envy!

(ME_NO_FAT) Report

Well, you triathletes are going to have to go a long way to top my
first ME_NO_FAT event.

On today's bike riding leg, after 37 miles I placed last behind Gary
Liberti, Ken Goldman and Tom Ellis going up the hills (big surprise
there, right?), finished with the pack on the flats, and am proud to
report that, despite the threat of global warming and several other
potential disasters awaiting Mother Earth, she still has her gravity
and gravity worked so well that I smoked everyone on the few hundred
yards of downhills we encountered. Overall, I call that a successful
leg (and if I was keeping score, I won my age class, since Gary and
Ken are, what, 85?)

No one joined me this week for the golf leg, so my 44 on nine holes
won the day. And I took no mulligans despite a droopy-wing egret
eyeing me suspiciously as it raced me to my ball on the 7th green (my
too close tee shot almost nailed it so I think it wasn't very happy
with me). Leg number 2, in the bag.

A quick refueling stop at In-and-Out and it was home to attempt a
transitional nap before the final leg of the event, the hike.

Five hearty souls braved the windy ridgelines of Garin/Dry Creek Park
and, luckily for me, everyone took pity on me; instead of our regular
Wednesday Evening Hike Group's "Sir Edmund Hillary" route up to the
top of Garin ridge we took the Pioneer Trail cutoff, shaving 1 mile
and 400' of climbing off of our regular 6 mile, 1300' evening.

I'm happy to report that no one got lost or dropped, we saw our usual
share of wildlife (the number of raptors out hunting in this park
continues to amaze me ), and we finished as a pack. I call that
successful leg number three.

This has been so much fun, I plan to list it again for next Wednesday.

All right Paul and the rest of you tri-s, the gauntlet is thrown, and
I hope you in the O_GET_FITs (the O_ld G_E_ezer T_riatheletes of
F_remont I_n T_raining) brigade can come up to ME_NO_FAT standards.

I'll even spot you a burger.
